We’re up and running with our production-in-progress at the Theatre Centre in Toronto…..only only more week until the show closes…get your tickets now!
Check out the lovely reviews in EYE Magazine and Xtra Magazine
“Moment by moment, this 70-minute creation is utterly compelling, even if Breakfast’s dark, absurdist progression eventually defies description….adventurers who surrender to this play about transformation will be rewarded by visceral theatre. Like an orgasm, it’s hard to describe but you know when you’ve had one.
…It’s a sleek, relentless ride, with emotional glue courtesy of the psycho-savvy script and Randoja’s absorbing, fearless performance. What does it take to truly change?” EYE Magazine

MONDAY FEBRUARY 11th at The Theatre Centre
The “Up Your Auntie” fundraiser, featuring:
Clean Irene & Dirty Maxine
John Millard and Happy Day
Cupcake bake sale and cheap beer!
For the last two years the Aunties have been a company-in-residence at The Theatre Centre. We’ve been developing a new show, BREAKFAST, which we are excited to announce is slated to premiere (as a co-production with the Theatre Centre) this spring, from May 14 to June 1st 2008.
Ahhh…but if only artistic excitement alone was needed to stage a new play! Alas, we were recently dismayed to find out that we did not receive all the grant funding we needed for our production. And, as independent theatre cannot be produced on inspiration alone, we are turning to our community. In order to make this production happen, the Aunties still need to raise $8000.
We are appealing to you today, our friends and supporters, to help us reach our goal. We ask you to consider making Independent Auntie one of your charitable donations this year, and to make a contribution to our production. Please come to our fundraising event, and make your donation there, or if you can’t attend, we hope you can still lend your support. All donations can be sent c/o of The Theatre Centre ; cheques should be made out to The Theatre Centre and ear-marked for “Independent Auntie Production”. All donations of over $25 will receive a charitable receipt.
Up Your Auntie Fundraiser
Monday, February 11th
at The Theatre Centre, Queen and Dovercourt
Doors @ 7 pm
Clean Irene & Dirty Maxine @ 7:30 pm
John Millard and Happy Day @ 9 pm
Tickets are by donation, with the suggested minimum donation of $20
all donations of $25 and over will receive a charitable tax-receipt.

We will be performing our well-travelled and well-loved little show, Clean Irene & Dirty Maxine in a special, last-time-ever-in-Toronto performance. If you have managed not to see the show before in it’s previous productions, or if you’ve seen it and you’ve always wanted to bring along your rich aunt Mary…well, now’s your chance. Following the show, there will be music by the very fine and fabulous John Millard and Happy Day. There will (of course) be amazing cupcakes and gluten-free cookies for sale. And cheap beer! Let the good times roll.

Clean Irene & Dirty Maxine runs from Oct 3 to 6, 8 pm (and 2 pm matinee on Saturday). tix and info here
The show opened last night and it was as fun always.
Hey! Now in addition to cookies, we also are selling TSHIRTS! very fashionable and awesome, original designs by Morgan Criger.
Today we get a day off and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Our new show Robbers Daughters is a comedy for kids and grown ups.
Written by Anna Chatterton and Evalyn Parry, directed by Brendan Healy, costume and prop designs by Sherri Hay, featuring Claire Calnan, Anna Chatterton Karin Randoja, and Alisha Stranges.
Robbers Daughters was presented at The Cooking Fire Festival in Dufferin Grove Park, Toronto, June 2007. The festival was such fun! The new play was well recieved! The kids laughed, the grown ups laughed! NOW Magazine says “Part cheeky fairy tale, part postmodern history, part over-the-top comedy, Robber’s Daughters reminded us how good it is to have the Aunties in our theatre community.” – Jon Kaplan (or read the whole very nice review here)
